Writing for Kids I have always been a reader. I have always been a writer. I thought that loving reading and writing meant I should be an English teacher. I taught middle and high school for about five years. I quit teaching after the first of my four children was born, a decision which gave me more time to rediscover the books I had always loved best, the ones with the Js on their spines. Once I realized that my love for writing and my love for children's books meant I should be writing for children, I never looked back. My first two picture books are with Scholastic Book Clubs Firefly Club and there are two more books on the way. Check out “My Books” for more details.
*I don’t remember hiding under the bedclothes with a flashlight but I’m sure I would have if my mother hadn’t allowed me to read as late as I wanted. I still have many of the books from when I was a child--I can’t bear to give books away, so I have lots and lots of bookshelves.
